Offline applications for Chrome OS?
As we've all seen when Chrome OS was presented and its source released it's pretty much just a fancy browser meant to optimally run web applications. So every web app in existence is now a Chrome OS app.

While this is cool stuff, I think a lot of people might miss the capability run offline applications as well on their netbooks. Does anyone else wish it had this? Anyone knows of rumors of this being planned?

Interestingly, almost a year before Chrome OS would officially be released (late 2010) there's a pretty good netbook OS that came out called Jolicloud which similarly to Chrome OS optimally runs web apps while at the same time allowing you to run usual offline applications in a friendly manner. It makes me wonder if Chrome OS might get some serious competition before it's even released.

Though Jolicloud probably doesn't boot and run as fast as Chrome OS..

No problem, glad it helps. Indeed if looking for offline programs on something like Chrome Jolicloud seems like a good option.
