problems logging in to google.com or gmail

Installed new chrome 3/2010 to have 2nd browser (primary Firefox) in case of crash (got rid of opera). Worked well, problems logging into mail (cookies functionality message). Allowed google.com to place cookies, then allowed all sites to place cookies, disabled all adblocking, enabled popups, went to Firefox, logged in no problem, and disabled labs on gmail account, deleted history/cookies/cache on chrome. Closed and restarted chrome countless times, even rebooted. Can't figure out what else to do; if gmail is nonfunctional, this is worthless. Have searched forums and done everything I can. Please help!!
